Miri Rodriguez and Stacey Danheiser know what it’s like to give everything you have — and watch the ladder get pulled up before you can climb it. They’ve been the only woman in the room. Then AI arrived and made the stakes unmistakable. The same technology can amplify every inequity women have fought for generations — or help dismantle them at a scale never before possible. That fork in the road is the reason Empressa exists.

The data didn’t lie
The data confirmed what they already felt. Nobel Prize–winning economist Claudia Goldin had shown why the gap won’t close on its own: motherhood penalties, long-hour cultures, and outdated systems keep the game rigged. And then the World Economic Forum delivered the number that stopped them cold.
But there is Hope: A new model
As AI changes the nature of work, a new model is emerging — the Portfolio Economy. Instead of depending on a single employer for security and opportunity, women can build ownership through a portfolio of skills, expertise, visibility, relationships, and income.
